We’re interrupting our scheduled Class of 2024 programming to let you know about 5 unmissable artist opportunities with upcoming July/August deadlines.
This selection includes a chance to show video work in Piccadilly Circus, the possibility of exhibiting work at Saatchi Gallery and an opportunity to secure a studio space at Sarabande Studios (with scholarships available to a select few graduating students).

1. CIRCA Prize 2024
CIRCA PRIZE 2024 is an open call for emerging and mid-career artists of all nationalities and locations. Artists must submit a two-and-a-half minute piece of new or pre-existing work (with sound) in response to the CIRCA 20:24 manifesto: ‘<<Break Free>> Time’s Arrow Flies Forever Forward’.
Deadline: July 15
Entry fee: Free
Judges: Mohamed Almusibli (Kunsthalle Basel, Basel), Attilia Fattori Franchini (Kunstverein Gartenhaus, Vienna), Sydney Fishman (BOFFO, New York), Sohyeon Park (Incheon International Airport Art and Culture, Incheon), and Kostas Stasinopoulos (Serpentine Galleries, London) will be joined by the following artists and supporters to decide the shortlist and overall winner: Marina Abramović, Lisa Anderson, Nicoletta Fiorucci, Michèle Lamy, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Josef O’Connor, Kembra Pfahler, Sir Norman Rosenthal, Slawn, Nadya Tolokonnikova and Ai Weiwei.
Prize:
Throughout September, the work of 30 selected international artists will appear at 20:24 local time on the iconic Piccadilly Lights and across the CIRCA global platform of digital screens in Milan and Berlin.
The winning artist will receive £30,000 to help support their practice and develop a new CIRCA commission, alongside a trophy designed especially by Ai Weiwei.
In addition to the main prize, an online public vote will determine the winner of an additional £10,000.

2. M&M Saatchi - Art for Change Prize
Open to emerging artists around the world in the first five years of active practice. This year’s prize asks artists to creatively respond to the theme 'Tomorrow'ing: Visions of a Better Future'.
Deadline: July 17
Entry fee: Free
Judges: Grant Cornett, Nicholas Rotondi, Benita Antony, Raania Durrani, Shakeel Hasan and Henry Yap amongst others…
Prize:
The total prize fund of £20,000 will be split between six winners, five to receive £2,000 and one overall winner to receive £10,000. The winning artists will exhibit their work at Saatchi Gallery in London.

3. Sarabande Studios
Sarabande Studios (established by Alexander McQueen) are holding applications for their 2024-25 studio residency programme. This provides a heavily subsidised studio space but also communication with leading journalists, curators, collectors, fashion designers, artists and photographers - all eager to support emerging artists and designers.

Entry fee: Free
Whats on offer?:
Subsidised studios range from 50sq. ft to 350sq. ft and are priced at £1 per sq. ft per month. The cost includes all utilities, use of communal spaces & equipment, free professional services, mentoring and free access to all events at the foundation.
Sarabande scholarships are awarded to students studying the MA & BA Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins and the MFA at Slade School of Fine Art. Students interested in learning about the scholarship should contact their course leader directly for all information on how to apply.

4. Bow Arts: East London Art Prize
The Bow Arts: East London Art Prize is an all-media art prize designed to showcase the talent of artists working and living in east London, with an accompanying event programme supporting artists’ careers.
Deadline: August 27
Entry fee: £10, or £7 for students
Judges: Louise Benson (Director of Digital, ArtReview Magazine), Phoebe Collings-James (Artist), Jonny Tanna (Director, Harlesden High Street) and Sam Wilkinson (Head of Public Art and Cultural Engagement, UCL).
Prize:
First prize is a £15,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition at the Nunnery Gallery.
Second prize is a year’s free studio space at one of Bow Arts’ studio sites.
The entire shortlist will be presented in an exhibition at the Nunnery Gallery and each shortlisted artist will be given mentoring and career development opportunties, supported by the Prize partners.

5. ING Discerning Eye Exhibition
The ING Discerning Eye is calling for artists based across the UK to submit work to be shown at the Mall Galleries in London and in a unique virtual exhibition.
Deadline: August 30
Entry fee: £15 for one work, up to £70 for six works
Judges: Adebanji Alade, Carol Leonard, Nina Murdoch, Paul Carey Kent, Will Gompertz, Gabrielle Blackman
